Description

The Caprice Classic was Chevrolet's top model in the 1970s, above the Impala. The convertible was made in the years 1973 through 1975. A total of about 20,000 units of the convertible were made, including 8,349 units of the 1975 model year. The car has become particularly famous in the Netherlands as the car of Johnny Flodder, from the film and TV series "Flodder". This Caprice Classic convertible features a 350 cubic inch 5.7 liter V8-Small Block, which was a special option at the time. The same engine, among others, also served in the Chevrolet Corvette for many years. The car has been owned by its current owner, a collector, since 2009, who completely restored it between 2009 and 2016. During the restoration, nothing was left to chance and many parts were replaced. For example, the rear wings were completely replaced, the entire interior was reupholstered, the car received a new burgundy red carpet and the convertible top was replaced for a new hood. Finally, in 2016, the body was given a new coat of paint in the original Classic White color. To do so, the old paint job was first completely removed. The original engine and 3-speed automatic transmission were completely overhauled in 2016. The engine was fitted with a new Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and a Summit (racing) air filter, which increased the power output from around 170 hp to around 245 hp. More recently, the (electric) fuel pump and some of the wiring under the hood were replaced. This 5.70 meters (19 ft) long, 2.03 wide and 1.38 meters high convertible is a unique appearance and one of the few full-size 6-passenger convertibles that will ever exist. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend coming to the viewing day.
