Just like the Sunbeam 20 FHC from this auction, the car offered here is so rare that it is difficult to find out details. We have managed to get the following information about the Sunbeam 20 in general: The Sunbeam 20, introduced for 1927, had a 2916 cc six-cylinder engine with head valves with a capacity of 20.9 horsepower and a four-speed transmission. The car used a semi elliptical front suspension and a releasable rear suspension. The brakes on the four wheels were operated by a cable at the front and a rod at the rear. A Claudel Hobson carburetor was installed. The available body styles were: 2-seater, Tourer, Fixed Head Coupé, Drop Head Coupé, Coachbuilt Saloon, Weymann Saloon and the Rally Weyn Saloon. A long wheelbase chassis was introduced in 1928. The production of the type 1926-1930 was about 2560 pieces. In 1930 the 20 was revised with a new 3317cc OHV six (power of 23.8 hp), Zenith carburetor and a slightly larger chassis. Other revisions included vacuum servos and a silent third gear. About 752 of the 1931-1933 type were built. This 1933 Sunbeam Tickford Pillarless is one of them. This was only a small part of that 752, which makes it such a rare car that it is hard to find. The cars on offer are part of a static collection that has been accumulated over the last 40 years. They are mainly in an unrestored, original but dusty condition. We have not tried to start any of the cars. We have been informed that the engines have been turned, on a regular basis, but the exact condition of the cars and the engines is unknown to us. You can inspect the cars on the viewing days for which you have to make a reservation through our ticketshop.
