Specifications
[description]

HAVAS was a Dutch manufacturer of sports cars and convertibles. HAVAS stands for HAns van As, later a garage owner from Hilversum. In the fifties he built a hillclimb racer, an open double race car based on the SIMCA 8 (later equipped with the engine of a Porsche 356). In the mid-1960s, two open racing cars with Porsche engines were built (one with a Porsche Carrera engine and the other with a Porsche Super 90 engine), one of which was later converted into a closed racing truck. HAVAS is best known for converting DAF "limousines" into convertibles. Initially based on the 33, later in cooperation with DAF also the 44, 55 and 66. In the Netherlands about 21 were sold, 5 were exported to France and another 5 kits were sent to France for assembly. In France, the kits were used to build the vehicles by themselves, but these kits were assembled in a French garage under the supervision of a HAVAS technician. After Volvo took over DAF, the conversion license was withdrawn and HAVAS ceased to be a car manufacturer. This car is therefore very rare. The cars on offer are part of a static collection that has been accumulated over the last 40 years. They are mainly in an unrestored, original but dusty condition. We have not tried to start any of the cars. We have been informed that the engines have been turned, on a regular basis, but the exact condition of the cars and the engines is unknown to us. You can inspect the cars on the viewing days for which you have to make a reservation through our ticketshop.
