Specifications
Description

The first lot in this very special auction is a Chrysler Imperial Crown Southampton Coupé. This 1959 car was one of the top models in the Chrysler Corporation's Imperial line. It was an exclusive and luxurious car produced in limited numbers. The Southampton Coupé was one of the most distinctive and characteristic models of the third generation of the Imperial line, which ran from 1957 to 1966. It had a long, low and wide body with distinctive styling, including large tail fins and a distinctive radiator grille. It was also very luxurious, with a wide range of comfort and convenience features, including optional air conditioning, power steering, brake steering and electric windows. The Southampton Coupé had a hardtop roofline, which meant that the roof had no B-style, and it appeared as if the front and rear windows were seamlessly joined. The Southampton was powered by a powerful 6.8-liter V8 engine that produced 350 horsepower and was paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. It was one of the most expensive cars of its time and a symbol of luxury and status for those who could afford it. Today, the Imperial Crown Southampton Coupé models are beloved classics for their unique styling and luxurious features. A total of 1,743 copies of this model were produced, making it a rare appearance. The cars on offer are part of a static collection that has been accumulated over the last 40 years. They are mainly in an unrestored, original but dusty condition. We have not tried to start any of the cars. We have been informed that the engines have been turned, on a regular basis, but the exact condition of the cars and the engines is unknown to us. You can inspect the cars on the viewing days for which you have to make a reservation through our ticketshop.
