With the 1987 model year, the 928 was subjected to a complete overhaul. The body gets a more rounded front and a modified rear. For example, new techniques in the plastics processing industry enable the production of larger rear lights that can be recognized as early as the first few concepts of the early 1970s. The rounded front also improves aerodynamics and the new rear spoiler wing meets the desire of the time not to have "rubber lips" on the body. Together with the large underbody at the front and the new rear spoiler, the Cd value drops to 0.34. The four-valve, five-litre engine now used around the world has been further revised. The engine develops 235 kW/320 hp at 6,000 rpm, is much more agile than its predecessor (430 Nm at 3,000 rpm) and has, among other things, new pistons, a new cylinder head with modified combustion chambers, two electric fans and a modified injection. The engine has the LH injection (version 2.3), which includes an emergency program, self-diagnosis options and a self-learning lambda control. With a curb weight of 1,580 kg, the S4 with manual transmission reaches 100 km/h after 5.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 270 km/h. The automatic version takes 0.4 seconds longer. The tires on the S4 are 225/50 VR 16 at the front and 245/45 VR 16 at the rear on Fuchs forged rims. With seconds longer and the maximum speed is 265 km / h. Starting with the 1989 model year, a tire pressure monitoring system (RDK) and an information and diagnostics system (on-board computer) are added. From the middle of model year 1989, the 928 54 is only available with an automatic transmission. The offered 928 S4 is equipped with a modified exhaust system for an even better sound. Furthermore, it is in an original condition. It is matching numbers with "birth certificate" from Porsche. From 2006 to 2021 the car was stored by the previous owner. In order to "wake up", the following activities were carried out: - fuel system flushed, injectors cleaned, new fuel pump installed; - timing belt replaced; control variable intake manifold replaced incl. gaskets; -replace front tires; - APK performed; -service carried out incl. change of gearbox oil.
